About NyanNyan-ji
NyanNyan-ji is the world's first temple-style art museum, located in the nature-rich Yase area of Kyoto, with cats as its principal image.
The sliding doors and ceilings of this charming 100-year-old traditional house are packed with cat-themed artworks, allowing visitors to enjoy art filled with cats.
The gallery space inside the building displays the works of Miyano Kaya, who has been active as a cat artist since she was 11 years old.
Miyano Kaya has painted cats on all 24 sliding doors in the building, and has also created the maneki-neko (beckoning cat) and cat daruma dolls that are the principal images of the temple.
